At its annual meeting on Wednesday, June 16, Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity celebrated the accomplishments of all those who make dreams come true for our partner families each year. Nearly 100 people attended the annual meeting, which was held at the Sheraton Monarch Place in downtown Springfield.
During the event, guests listened as Karina Dise, homeowner of 4 Palmer Road, Monson, talked about how this program has impacted her life. “Our life really began the day we became homeowners,” she said.
GSHFH also took the opportunity to honor a number of special volunteers and donors, including Ellen Berry, Caroline Toner, and all nine congregations within the Monson Circle of Faith, who all received Time, Talent and Treasure awards. Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage received this year’s President’s Circle Award, presented by Board President Neil Swinton.
GSHFH was also pleased to honor Bill Fisher as 2010’s Outstanding Volunteer. His efforts, specifically as project manager for the Sylvan Street rehab project, were invaluable to this organization and to the Gomez family. Again, Bill, we thank you for all you have done to further Habitat’s mission.
Guests at the annual meeting also enjoyed a video retrospective of the year running from June 2009 to June 2010. We also said goodbye to two long-time Habitat board members – Bob Perry and Bobbie Pitkin – whose tenure on the board has ended. Thanks to both of you. Your contributions and commitment to this organization are unparalleled.
In addition to the awards presented on June 16, the GSHFH staff and Board of Directors would like to thank each and every volunteer and donor who helped us complete homes for five local families this year. We couldn’t have done it without you!
