Cars for Homes

Donate your vehicle to Habitat for Humanity to empower low-income families to change their lives and the lives of future generations through homeownership and home preservation opportunities. Plus, you may qualify for a tax deduction.

Thank you, Mike and Melissa Simmons, for donating your 2012 metal gray Subaru Outback to "Cars for Homes." The decision came when the couple grew tired of paying for expensive repairs. They looked online for an organization that would benefit from the situation. Mike found Habitat for Humanity - Cars for Homes online and figured it was a good fit. After all, in his younger days, before he became an ER doctor, Mike worked building houses.

Thank you, Arthur and Margaret Gage, for your generous and heartfelt donation. Last summer, their son unexpectedly passed away. After he died, the family wanted to donate his car to an organization where it would do some good. They contacted Habitat for Humanity's #CarsForHomes program and donated his 2005 black Mazda 3 sedan. We know this wasn't an easy decision and we are grateful for your gift. Your son's car will help people in our community build a home for a family in need and give them the hope of a better life.

ABOUT CARS FOR HOMES.

Habitat for Humanity accepts nearly all vehicles, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, boats, snowmobiles, farm equipment, and construction equipment.

To donate a car or truck, click here. To donate another kind of vehicle, call 877-277-4344. You will need the vehicle's Certificate of Title.

After a vehicle is picked up, it's sold on behalf of Habitat through a national network of fully licensed, insured, and bonded auctions and direct buyers. Roughly half of vehicles are sold to licensed dealers at wholesale auctions and are reused for transportation. The remaining half are brought to auto salvage yards where the reusable parts, batteries, tires, and fluids are removed. Vehicles that can be recycled are crushed, shredded, and recycled into steel.

On a monthly basis, 78-86% of revenue from vehicles donated to Habitat through Cars for Homes support local Habitat affiliates. Based on a donor’s zip code or personal request, the donation is transferred to a particular affiliate.
