Construction Updates!

As we all know, weather this year has been difficult.

After a very snowy winter, we transitioned into something that resembled springtime. In Hampden county, spring was marked by the devestating tornado on June 1st. Since the tornado we have have had rain, incredibly hot temperatures, a tropical storm, followed by more rain. Working in construction has been tough!

Fortunately, we are part of a fabulous community, full of dedicated volunteers who are anxious to be involved with efforts to improve the quality of life (and the quality of the community!) for deserving families. With this support, we were able to continue construction on our duplex on Quincy St., in Springfield. While the the exterior of the home was completed during our Blitz Build (May 9th-13th), volunteers have been hard at work on the interior of the home. As of this moment, drywall on the right side of the house has been completed, with volunteers working on drywalling on the left side.

The weather has caused delays for a few of our projects. We ran into a few bumps in pouring the foundation at Dexter St, though it looks like we'll be ready to start working there in the beginning of October. Our project on Chestnut St. in Holyoke is expected to start up next Saturday. While those projects have faced some setbacks, we are excited to be entering into a busy fall on the construction site, and we hope you'll stay tuned for different ways you can get involved!
